MHA allows opening of the Neighbourhood and Standalone Shops, but not Markets

 

A Relaxation for opening of shops in India by Ministry of Home Affairs

During the ongoing lockdown, neighborhood and standalone stores, including those found in residential buildings, are permitted to open in urban areas while those in the markets remain closed until May 3. In rural areas, all shops are permitted to open except those in shopping malls. In a late-night order on Friday, the Home Ministry also said malls continue to remain shut but markets in rural areas can open.

 

Shops in markets/market complexes & shopping malls are not allowed to open. It is clarified that sale by E-commerce companies will continue to be permitted for essential goods only. It is further clarified that the sale of liquor & other items continues to be prohibited: MHA

The ministry also said that shops situated in licensed markets outside the municipal corporations and municipalities will open after the social distancing and mask-wearing drill but with 50 percent strength.

 

     

 

As specified in the consolidated revised guidelines, these shops will not be permitted to open in areas, whether rural or urban, which are declared as containment zones by respective States/ UTs: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

Varanasi: Stationery & electronics shops open in Ardali Bazar area. MHA has issued an order to States/UTs to allow opening of certain categories of shops, except those in single & multi-brand malls. These lockdown relaxations are not applicable to hotspots/containment zones.
